The Gurgaon Chapter organized a movie show for its members on July 19,
2008, and 50 members attended the show. The film screened was Contract,
directed by Ram Gopal Verma. The members enjoyed both the movie and the
ambience of the City Walk Mall.
Contract is yet another movie from Ram Gopal Verma (RGV) which is replete with
violence, gang wars and other underworld activities with a blend of terrorism.
The story is about an ex-army man who is approached by a Mumbai cop to help
nail down some terrorists hiding in the city after a series of bomb blasts in
Delhi.
He initially refuses but later relents after his own wife and daughter fall
victims to terrorist violence. He decides to go after the top man in the
terrorist outfit responsible for his kin's death. How he goes about his task by
first joining the outfit's rival gang is the core of this violence-ridden
movie. Though there is nothing path-breaking or memorable about the movie, it
does have quite a few outstanding scenes, thanks to RGV.
Hero Adhvik Mahajan, a newcomer, is pleasant to watch with his distinctive style
and good acting. Sakshi Gulati, who helps our hero, has limited role and acting
scope. Vibha Chebur, who dons the role of a police commissioner, is good
looking and gives an impressive performance in her limited role. All the other
actors are okay.
While the music is below average, the background score is RGV style and at times
too loud. All in all, Contract is a passable movie.
