Nagercoil
INC
Alpha Chapter, Nagercoil, success- -fully organized a free Diabetic Detection
and Diabetic Retinopathy Screening Camp on June 8, 2008 near Thuckalay in K K
District of Tamil Nadu. A team of three doctors and 12 medical assistants from
the reputed Arvinda Eye Hospital, Tirunelveli, performed the check-up. A total
of 164 persons attended the camp. Diabetic screening was done for 136. Six
persons were taken for cataract surgery and glasses were provided to 23
persons.
JP Nagar (Bengaluru)

INC Alpha Chapter, JP Nagar conducted a social activity for HIV/AIDS-affected
children in the age group of 3-8 years at the DESIRE Society, JP Nagar. Eleven
students and three INC staff members organized games, dance, singing and
painting competitions for the benefi- -ciaries.
Vadodara
INC
Alpha Chapter, Vadodara organized a 'Tree Plantation Program' on June 21, 2008
in association with Haribhakti Raneshwar Mahadev Sansthan Trust. A total of 250
students took active interest in planting 120 saplings near the INC campus. A
lecture series on 'Environmental Conservation' was also held. Sanjiv Tyagi,
Member Secretary and VC Shah, Regional Officer for Gujrat Pollution Control
Board, V V Modi, Ex- Dean, Faulty of Science, MSU, Kiran Soni, Asst. Director,
Gardens & Parks Vadodara, Municipal Corporation and Mukesh Bhatt, Regional
Coordinator, INC, Gujrat, spoke on the occasion.
Bellary

INC Alpha Chapter, Bellary distributed School bags to 45 slum students studying
in classes 1 to 6. Students enthusiastically interacted with the beneficiaries.
Guwahati

Alpha Chapter, Guwahati distribu- -ted essential requirements like clothes,
buckets, soaps, hair oil, pan, etc., to eight inmates of T R Phookan Leprosy
Asylum at Rajib Gandhi Memorial Leprosy Training Center at Boko on June 25,
2008. Basanta Kumar Dutta, Ex-Principal, Jawaharlal Nehru College, Boko, was
the chief guest and the guests of honour were Ganeshwar Saharia, Principal,
Boko B Ed College and S N Kalita, Zonal Leprosy Officer, Kamrup. They all
lauded the INC Alpha initiatives.
Trichy
INC Alpha Chapter, Trichy conducted a blood donation, blood grouping
and free medical camp for 378 mentally handicapped children at Vidivelli, Karur
Road, Trichy on June 26, 2008, in association with Lions Club of Mid Town,
Trichy. Forty-three persons, including 12 students, donated blood. Soundaiya,
Trichy District Collector, was the chief guest.
Coimbatore
INC Alpha Chapter, Coimbatore had organized the second 'Green
Initiative' on June 28, 2008. Twenty saplings were planted at Bharathi Nagar by
15 INC students and the colony residents.
Dharmshala

INC Alpha Chapter, Dharmshala (Himachal Pradesh) commenced its social activities
by distributing bed sheets, stationery and carom board to 26 inmates of 'Apang
Bal Sadan' on June 27, 2008 in association with the Red Cross Society of India,
Dharamshala. Capt. Abrol, Secretary Red Cross Society of India and L P Sudan,
President of Lions Club, Dharamshala, graced the occasion. INC students
interacted with the inmates and motivated them to study well. Col. P S Rana,
Campus Head, announced that many such social activities for the needy in
surrounding areas would be conducted. Principal of 'Bal Sadan' expressed his
gratitude.
Vellore
INC Alpha Chapter, Vellore conduc- -ted a general health check-up camp at Union
Primary School, Viruppak- -shipuram, on June 29, 2008 in association with
Rotary Club of Vellore. Dr. B Kumaran of Vellore Medical College and his team
carried out the medical check-up. A total of 250 children were the
beneficiaries. Free medicines were distributed to the needy. Seventy children
were referred for further check-up and treatment at the hospital. Gopinath,
President, Rotary Club, presided over the camp. R Sridaran, Campus Head, INC,
Vellore proposed vote of thanks.
