A chat with
Romil
Kulshreshtha INC Jaipur(2007), Member,
Board of Governors, INCAS.
Romil Kulshreshtha, an alumnus of INC Jaipur (2007),
presently works as a Branch Manager, Fullerton India.
He hails from Jaipur, the Pink City. He pursued all his
education, right from his schooling to his postgraduation,
in his home town. His father is a state
government employee and his mother is a homemaker.
His younger brother is a software engineer.
The second INCAS Board
Meeting was held on
December 29, 2008 at
Hyderabad. In that context, the
INCAS Network team met Romil
Kulshreshtha, Member, Board of
Governors, and asked him about his
changed role from a student to a board member and also about his
current placement. He was asked to
share his views on INC and his days
at INC. This is what he has to say.

Can you share your feelings on
this changed role, from a
student to a board member of
INCAS?
Oh! It is wonderful. I cannot express
my joy because I do not have the
words to express. A boy, who was
nothing a few years ago, is now in
the Board of Governors. But one
thing I can stress. Board of
Governors had a lot of confidence in
me and made me a Member. I know
my responsibilities and I strive for
the welfare of INCAS.
Please tell us about your
current job.
Presently, I am working as a Branch
Manager in 'Fullerton India' and my team
includes different functional staff like
Credit, Sales and Operations.
Describe your current job
briefly.
After making a thorough survey of the
business opportunities here, I
established a branch office at Sawai
Madhopur and recruited the staff. My
knack lies in making my branch an
efficient one among many such
branches. My job responsibilities
include handling the sales team for
sourcing, coordinating with the
operations team and finally managing
the credit team for back end work.
We get our revenues from loans and
general insurance.
How do you balance your
personal and professional life?
Well, it is a bit difficult. I am working in
Sawai Madhopur, which is quite far from
my native place, Jaipur. So I have only
one day in a week, which is Sunday, for
my personal life. But again not the last
Sunday of the month. I enjoy, to the
core, the available Sundays of the month
with my family and friends and try my
best to fill the gap of the past six days of
the week, which I have missed because
of my professional life.
What are your reflections on
your student days?
Well, INC has changed my path towards
success. I was literally good- for-nothing
before joining INC. But after joining here,
I understood the importance of targets
and learnt how to achieve them. INC
has instilled confidence and positive
thinking in me. It taught me to have an
aim in life and changed my attitude
towards it. I won many prizes. During
my two years tenure, I held responsible
positions like Student Placement
Coordinator, Member - Sports
Committee, Student Head, etc. Then
after passing out from INC, I was
President, INCAS Chapter, Jaipur, for
some period and now I am the Member,
Board of Governors, INCAS.
How did you feel about your
academic and intellectual
pursuits during your stay at INC?
Well, they were excellent. While at INC,
I received many awards and rewards in
academics and attended many seminars.
During my SIP, I bagged many prizes for
my internship project and was given an
award. I participated in various extra
curricular activities and was given a
chance to head the committees like
sports, placements, etc. By the time I
passed out of INC, I honed my leadership
skills, which is of immense help to me in
the present job.
How are the pursuits helpful
in your present placement?
They are of great help. Because of my
good academic records, I am
preparing good and effective reports
and mailing and analyzing the market
according to the company's
products, finding out the new
opportunities compatible with the
product and company, etc. The
leadership role which I assumed while
at INC is now helping me to manage
my team and my branch.
How do you assess the
teaching abilities of the
faculty members who taught
you at INC?
They were excellent guides. As far as
their academic knowledge is concerned,
I have no issues, but I personally feel
that it will be more apt on their part if
they are a little more practical in their
approach.
What do you feel about the
facilities and infrastructure at
INC, where you studied?
INC has the best infrastructure and
good facilities.
How wide is your friends
circle at INC and how often
do you meet?
We do meet as and when the time
permits. It is my pleasure to talk
about them. All the 65 students of
my batch are my friends. In fact, I
have so many friends in the other
INCs at Udaipur, Jodhpur, etc. I am
usually in touch with them through
phone or e-mail. At times, a few of
us meet and go nostalgic about our
INC days.
What are your hobbies?
Yes, I have simple hobbies. I love to read
some good motivational books and
listen to melodious music.
